Happy Friday!! It seems a bit premature given the short week, but as summer weekends are in short supply, you have to work with what your are given… If cocktail Friday feels two days too soon, you just have to rise to the challenge.
A few weeks back I made a homemade ginger liqueur. Warm and spicy, it is a wonderful night-cap when the air still has a bit of a chill, but now that the summer sun is shinning and all those plump little berries are bursting with their fresh market goodness…. Sangria seems to be the right, if not only thing to do.
Now, just to pretend I am dockside up north sharing with friends! Why isn’t every weekend in summer a long one??
Bon hot July weekened!!!
PS this recipe calls for a little ginger liqueur, which you can find the recipe for here. If you don’t have that I would try substituting with brandy, fresh ginger, and use a sweeter rosé
- 1 cup ginger liqueur
- 2 bottles dry rosé wine
- 1 orange, sliced thin
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1½ cup soda water
- In a large pitcher combine ginger liqueur, wine and fruit.
- Allow to chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour
- Top with soda water before serving
